hammocks, hammock chairs, hammock stands

I WOULD LIKE TO SHOW YOU SOME OF THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN A GOOD AND A BAD HAMMOCK.

SOUTH AMERICAN HAMMOCKS

On the page about MATERIAL I told you about the different fabrics that can be used. Now let"s see the different weaving qualities. An open weave fabric let more air coming through the fabric but it will also be more fragile to friction. It will soon stretch a lot in the middle making it difficult to be in a diagonal position without the feet going up.  Here are examples of different weaving styles.

Do a close up to appreciate true quality

FABRIC

An open weave poly/cotton new hammock. Almost a see through and already with lint. Not as soft on the skin.

Our top quality cotton fabric with a tight weave. A lot softer on the skin and it will keep its shape longer. Tear resistant selvage

Another example of what is a more expensive but a very good comfortable tight weave. Here with Organic cotton.

Our Outdoor material is made with polypropylene yarns that are thicker than cotton. Again still a very tight weave.

Here is to show how beautiful designs experienced Colombian weavers can make.

CONSTRUCTION

2 more very important factors will determine the quality and the strength of fabric hammocks. The amount of end strings and the finishing of the edges.

PERFECT WEIGHTLESNESS ON A DOUBLE HAMMOCK WITH48 STRINGS.

The quality and comfort of a hammock is measured by the number of suspension cords. More cords results in better weight distribution, increasing the overall durability and comfort of the hammock.

The amount of end strings is very important Our double hammocks have 24 on each side. Each string is doubled for extra strength.

With only 10 strings the pressure on each one is doubled. You will also feel each string on your back. The quality of each rope and of the fabric itself are not good either.

TEAR RESISTANT SELVAGE

By doubling the weft threads, the reinforced edges are totally tear-resistant. Since your feet often touch the sides, sewn sides will easily brake.

SPREADER BARS HAMMOCKS

Hammocks with spreader bars are not easy to remove and store when not in use. So stay away from cotton spreader bars hammocks. Hammock with very stiff material, like the pool side hammocks, are very unstable, almost dangerous. For Caribbean hammocks it is easy to see the difference on the amount of end strings and the quantity of fabric. (30% more)

Not a bad hammock. 20 strings and a relatively good weave

And, of course, stay away from this old fishing net model.

NOW for the best weatherproof jumbo rope hammock. Caribbean;24 strings, 30% more material and the tightest weave

HAMMOCK CHAIRS

For fabric hammock chairs you will look for the same qualities as for the hammocks. Tight weave, many strings and tear resistant selvage. You will also consider how long is the seat of thechair if you want a most comfortable nap.

For rope hammock chairs, here again the tight weave is very important.

Very bad quality rope hammock for skin marks

The great Caribbean weatherproof hammock chairs

Finally, once you have found the best fabric, the length of the wood bar will determine your level of comfort

Most company use a 36 in to 39 in wood bar. maybe to save on shipping costs. The result is that you don't have enough shoulder space to sit well and move your arms. And this guy is not big...

With our King size hammock chairs, fabric or rope, you will totally feel the pleasure of relaxing in a hammock chair.

CONCLUSION

My goal here was to show you the differences between good, not so good and bad hammocks to help you make a wise choice. Your decision may be based on your quality standards, your values, color selections and/or prices. I also hope that you will think about the Uyghurs forced labor in China.
